In my lectures for one of my classes, my professor was reading bits from librarian romances. Which was rather amusing. So I ended up deciding to go off and find one to read. The fact that it started out as an uber Xena fanfic was just a bonus. It was kind of noticeable, but probably a lot of that was because I knew before reading what it started as. Although I think I would have picked up on it eventually even if I hadn't known in advance. Anyways, it was... not bad. Which is probably as good as I'm ever going to get when rating a romance novel. The end felt a bit too happy. Which, I know, what did I expect reading a sappy romance. But things just worked out a little too perfectly, especially with the kid. The kid could go away. And the fact that they're in the middle of Nowhere, Virginia or something and yet almost everyone seems to be pretty much cool with homosexuality. Other than that though, it was fairly enjoyable.
