Well despite its name this book was definitely not as dark as the first and I felt like it took a step firmly in the fantasy genre.

I also felt like the author ran and jumped off the deep end, willing me to jump with her but left me standing there looking down shaking my head saying…’not for me’ with the introduction of a certain magical creature. It just felt like a step too far which is more about my personal reading preferences.

I did really enjoy some of the ‘short stories like’ sections in the book and I’m eager to find out how it all fits together. We also get a glimpse into the nature of the main characters gifts/powers which left me stunned.

Overall I’m not as taken with it as the first but great read and eager to find out who Elizabeth Cage really is?
