This was as dull as reading the ingredients list on a shampoo bottle. 

I appreciate the queer rep and the concept behind this story, but the characters were so bland, and the romance and plot were executed in such an uninteresting manner, I’m surprised I didn’t give up halfway through. The world-building and politics had potential, but somehow my brain couldn’t compute the writing style and overall tone of the story into the slightest hint of excitement. The romance had its cute moments, but I was left unimpressed and unconvinced by the end. 

Winter's Orbit was not the right fit for me, but hopefully, it will be for someone else looking for a sci-fi with a romance subplot.
