This book is fun and charming, while still getting its hooks in deep. It deals with some difficult themes with honesty and compassion, without drawing the reader down to wallow in them. The world-building is effective and the author's voice is charming af. I'm looking forward to her next one.

The content warnings are all about things that happened before the book begins, and although there are some flashbacks, the book mostly deals with the characters' post-traumatic reactions to them after the fact.
