My Shadow is Pink by Scott Stuart

5.0

Is this a book about gender identity? Or is a book about having different interests than one “should”? It is, and can be, one or both. My favorite spread happened to be the one with the different shadows: a man in a suit who loves painting & fashion, a girl holding pom-poms who loves engines & cars, a girl dancing in a tutu who loves science & space, a weightlifter who loves to dance in twirls & turns, a man holding an axe who loves theater & acting, a girl reading under a tree whose shadow reveals she likes girls. {Note: Pronouns reflect those used next to the illustration.}

But the overall message of love and acceptance of differences is a universal one we all need. The world is a brighter, better place because of the uniqueness of the individuals. Embrace that in yourself.
