I always have to remind myself that Carol Higgins Clark’s Regan Reilly series is kind of a goofball one that can’t be taken 100% seriously. I mean, this second installment took place at a hotel hosting a pantyhose conference as well as a mortician conference. Higgins doesn’t take herself seriously and nor should the reader; “madcap” is a good descriptor for this series. I enjoyed this book as long as I reminded myself not to take it too seriously and to just enjoy the ride, for what a ride it was. Higgins’ signature writing trait is to create 3-5 different plot lines that initially feel a thousand percent unrelated and then somehow weave them all together neatly by the end, which never fails to impress me.
