I have no idea how to review this book! I had so many varying thoughts throughout the whole thing. I was very close to DNFing in the first probably 1/4 because I couldn’t see a plot beyond the spice really (even though the spice was great) but the characters didn’t hook me. When the first twist was revealed, it honestly made no sense to me and didn’t feel like it fit cohesively in the plot or with the previous writing for that characters POV. I went back and forth after that. The mental health rep was poor, it deepened Blaze’s character yes but I was off-put by the blatant ignorance to treat his condition. And then in the last 1/4 it was just too much to keep track of to the point I was basically skimming the last chapters. I think it could’ve done without, or at least needed to be simplified. It kinda felt rushed at that point despite the fact I was bored plot-wise for probably half of this story, so the pacing could’ve been better. I really have to commend the smut writing though, I really can’t complain there and that’s basically what’s holding up the 3 stars; it’s most of the book anyway. Incredibly hot and engaging. Would recommend if you’re looking for great smut, the plot isn’t unreadable but definitely difficult to keep engaged with outside of the spice.
