Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Second time reading this book—fell in love with it all over again. More detailed review coming later ❤️

Update:

The first time I read this book back in 2011 (wow), I fell in love immediately. Good news: I fell in love with it all over again! But this time, I did notice some things that bothered me the second time around, but not enough to make me love the book any less. Basically, I can understand why some people don't like this book, but hey, can't please everyone, but my opinion remains unswayed.
Anyway.
Marcie. Marcie, Marcie, Marcie. She's more annoying than she is mean in my opinion, though I know she's meant to come off as the "top dog" bully or whatever. C'mon Nora, take that one boxing lesson and give her a good punch! That'll shut her up. Also, what happened to Marcie after her little incident? I mean, I'll probably find out (again) once I reread the other three books in the saga, but she seemed to have just dropped from the story suddenly. Marcie, you annoying bitch, where did you go?
Miss Sully is a horrible teacher and I 10/10 would not recommend taking her class at any point in time. She didn't step in when there was a very obvious case of bullying right in front of her face! Also, why was she acting as an umpire from between first and second base? Get behind the catcher, you heathen!
Okay, I get Nora had a rough past, but did she have to go see the school's psychologist about it? It didn't seem like she needed to at that point in her life; Nora didn't show any signs of distress or anything to hint that she needed it. Also, her school had a psychologist? Like, a big step up from school counselor? I wish my school had the funds for that. Lucky Nora.
I found it kind of funny that Nora hunted down Patch after spending one class with him, drove thirty minutes out of her way to get to him in a super sketchy arcade/bar thing, but wasn't really worried about what her mom would think (until much later). She spent slightly more time with Elliot and became doubtful that they should hang out at all and worried what her mom would think. Boy, did she have it bad for Patch. I mean, I understand, the guy seems hot (sorry Chandler).
The first time I read this book, I really liked Vee, but this time I'm kind of on the fence with how I feel about her. She seems to genuinely love Nora, but she's also not the best of influences. The two balance each other out, but Vee must've been bitten by some love bug or something for her to choose a guy's side over her own best friend's after he attacked her. Like, girl, what the fuck? Bad friend, Vee.
I loved pretty much every interaction between Patch and Nora. Patch was so cocky, but it didn't bother me too much and I actually found it amusing a few times. He made me laugh and made my heart melt all the same, even after 8 years between readings. I relate to Nora quite a bit. She kind of lost her mind a little (not her fault) and I've already lost my mind, so like, girl, I get you. At one point, Patch used Nora as a kind of shadow puppet which was really heckin cool dude. Like... I didn't know he could do that? But also that plot twist boyyyyy it got me again! I'd forgotten all about it and it hit me in the face both times!
