A very unexpected entry for the Discworld series - to me, this felt off-brand, at a first glance.
However, the characters and the ending, as well as the humour gave me Discworld vibes the more I kept reading - I think by this book Sir Terry Pratchett had found his stride and knew what worked best for this world he was building.
Teppic was my favourite, and I loved his reactions. The ending was the best part of the book, and it recontextualized the entire plot - a stroke of genius on Sir Terry's part.
I also noticed a tonal shift from the previous books that foreshadowed the heavier Vimes books - and I very much appreciated it.
My review is a bit rambly and vague, but I think this book is better if you go into it with little to no information.
