Beach Read by Emily Henry
4.0
A cute, fun romance. January inherits her dad’s beach house, which turns out to be next door to her old college nemesis, Augustus (Gus). January writes women’s fiction, and Gus writes literary fiction. After running into each other at a local bookstore and then a book club meeting, they decide to enter a friendly competition by trading genres. Gus will need to write a story with a happy ending, and January will need to write a book with more grit. Whoever sells their book first wins. I really enjoyed the premise of this book. However, it was not as laugh out loud funny or as well paced as The Unhoneymooners, which I finished before this book, but this book does deal with some heavy issues and has good characterization.
