I really enjoyed this book. it was a fast read, despite it being so long. Neema grew on me quickly and i found myself engrossed in the world. starting a trilogy on such a tiny island over a short but important time period is a fantastic way to introduce readers to the setting in a controlled manner. while we begin under the impression that Neema is merely solving the murder of her fellow Raven, we are immersed in the politics and complexities of the capital and what it means to contend for the throne. i will definitely be checking back for book two in the future.
