This story was good. I have to say, throughout the majority of the book, I kept seeing links to Lora Leigh storylines and characters. Maybe the vampires and genetics and shifters and whatnot have been done so much that they're all starting to lump together, but there was so much that was eerily similar to the Breed books that it took my focus from the story a lot. And I do get that the Breeds weren't vampires or shifters, but the first half of the book I felt like I was reading Elizabeth's Wolf all over again, just not as good.

The writing itself was good, but nothing amazing for me. The relationship came extremely quickly, and the conflict felt forced. There were times that I wondered if an editor said, "You need to add conflict A here, then add some more of conflict B here." It seemed obvious and not completely believable. The relationship of the main characters was nice, but again, felt forced, both by the timelines and by the sex. The sex was hot, but all the scenes were fast and had little emotional depth.

All that said, however, the writing itself was pretty good, and I'm intrigued by the storylines and other characters. Clearly the author is building a series, and I'm interested in seeing how the other characters get together.
