Mrs. McGinty's Dead
by Agatha Christie
"Mrs. McGinty's Dead" opens with Superintendent Spence appealing to Hercule Poirot to use his little gray cells to determine if James Bentley, sentenced to hang, is truly guilty of killing charwoman Mrs. McGinty with a blow to the head. Poirot travels to the town of Broadhinny in the hope of quickly finding the truth. I enjoyed the book, which has some of the more vibrant characters Christie has written. I listened to the audiobook, and Hugh Fraser does a terrific job as usual relaying the characters and their unique voices - especially Robin Upward's annoying manner of talking. "Mrs. McGinty's Dead" has many twists and turns and red herrings, and is among Christie's better mysteries.
