The plot lacked depth, in my opinion, and felt like a duplicate of the previous book in the duology. Although the plot was technically different, the characters seemed to make the same choices. I think that was the intended point, but I feel like it could’ve been condensed into one book at that point. The actual character change didn’t really happen until very late in the book, which, in turn, made the evolution feel cheap and underwhelming. A lot lines were fairly repetitive as well. The first book was fairly good, but this one really dropped the ball for me.
