All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda
4.0

This is my third novel by Megan Miranda and my absolute favorite. I can't believe this is her debut novel. I enjoyed it much more than her newest one, Such a Quiet Place.

The story follows Nic Farrell who returns to the small town that she has tried desperately to escape from to support her ailing father who is in a care home. 10 years ago, Nic's best friend Corrine Prescott disappeared without a trace. Shorter after Nic arrives in town another local woman, Annaleise Carter goes missing. What is the connection and where are the missing girls?

The book started out a little slow for the first 50 or so pages but then we get into the good stuff. The second part of this book is told in reverse linear order counting back from day 15 to day 1 of Annaleise's disappearance. I loved this format and felt that this is what made this book different and not just your average girl is missing, girl investigates plot. I loved seeing all the little details line up, and seeing the aftermath and impacts of something before seeing it happen. I feel like I said outloud 'oh so thats why ...' several times. I found this style easy to follow but I did read it primarily over one day. I think this style also added to the suspense and mystery.

The heart of this novel for me was less the mystery and more the relationships between the characters. I loved the details we get about the characters as teens. The heightened emotion and drama of teenage friendships and romantic relationships, I felt the author did this well.

Overall, this book was great fun to read, left me thinking long after completion and has renewed my love for this author. I'd highly recommend this one.
