I listened to the audiobook of this book and I have, probably inconsequentially, a problem with the narrator being a man. As a book that was attempting to highlight the wives rather than the king's stories, I would have wanted/expected the narrator to be a woman. So there's that. I also think that there were some internal biases from the writer's perspective when speaking about the women (especially the first two wives). As someone who has never really thought about Henry or his wives, I feel as though there was a lot of information that makes the six wives rounded, human people dealing with really shitty behaviors/society. However, I feel that throughout the book, it felt as though the author went out of her way to be sympathetic more towards Henry than towards the women. I think it does its job, though, to interest the reader in looking more in depth to each individual woman.
