Thank you Netgalley and Harper books for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book. From the very first page I was already smiling and wishing Solange was my best friend. That first chapter is so good you can’t put it down once you start.

This is a trope I wasn’t sure I liked before, fake dating. But, the way Mia Sosa has written it I now know how wrong I was for my assessment of the trope.

I loved the interpersonal relationships of Solange and her family. Especially the bond between her and her mom. That this book mixes English and Portuguese throughout their conversations made it feel all the more real. I remember being at my sitters house as a kid and she would start speaking Portuguese to us naturally and in the middle of conversation and sentences. This gave me that memory and I found I could still understand some of it as I read. The language is beautiful.

The banter between Solange and Dean is perfection. Dean is all the right amount of charm and broken past. I’m so refreshed that he’s not a bad boy too. The straight laced buttoned up white lawyer. Who falls for the sarcastic, witty, intelligent, and beautiful Latina. The cast of characters is diverse. My favorite side character being Brandon. I need his book please Mia!

I can’t wait to read Mia Sosa’s entire back list!
