Wow. I think this will be my last Piper Rayne book for a while. Their quality has really plummeted over the years (or my preferences have just changed?). I've noticed this for every book they've released after their Greene Family series. They've all been flops. I haven't liked the Lake Starlight spinoff either.

The pacing in this book was just WEIRD. Like time jump after time jump. The time jumps were illogical and broke the flow of the story. For example, they skipped over her ENTIRE maternity leave (I already forget her first name and don't feel like going back to check lol) and suddenly she's back at work teaching middle school hours away from his/their Chicago apartment.

The reveal with Gwen (I think that was his ex-girlfriend's name??) was also very WEIRD (without getting into details/spoilers). His relationship with his parents/family was weird (I can't think of a better word to describe any of this). I couldn't get a read on his parents.

Overall, this book felt half baked, like Piper and Rayne forgot to fill in all the details in between. I'm already starting to forget it, but by next month, it'll be out of my head entirely. It was THAT forgettable.
