Run by Ann Patchett
5.0

Amazing! Better even than Ann Patchett's "Bel Canto," which ended in a way that I found less than satisfying. The novel is tightly crafted and beautifully written, but never tries too hard or strikes a false note. In fact, "Run" was so fantastic that I skipped lunch to finish it. The novel tells the story of two black adopted sons of the white former mayor of Boston, their older brother and a girl who may be their younger sister. I can't even explain why whether one boy grows up to be a scientist or whether the girl is accepted as part of their family is so compelling; it just is.
