Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: And Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty

4.0

I don't know if I feel better or worse....at least it was definitely an interesting read. Maybe not the right book for where I'm at right now, not dealing with my own mortality but with grief over others...

Death huh...I'm thinking about it. "But ignorance is not bliss, only a different kind of terror."
Lot of interesting points and stories...(a few were misses for me, including a lot of misses on the humour...welp).
(one definite not miss on the humour: "A chronicler in Italy described how bodies were layered in the ground-bodies then some dirt, bodies then some more dirt - "just as one makes lasagna with layers of pasta and cheese.""

Still. I love reading memoirs from people who are deeply invested in something, and are so passionate about it that everything they do reflects it. Where people's interests lead them will never not interest me...

Also the cover is gorgeous. The flame is orange/red/pink depending on the light and i love it....i wish i owned this copy not loaned ahaha

Now i want to get out and do things with my life. while im still breathing and my brain is still thinking.
