A Facet for the Gem by C.L. Murray

Did not finish book.
This one grabbed my attention with the high reviews and the "If you liked Anne McAffrey's Dragonridgers series you'll like this ..." but unfortunately, it wasn't clicking for me. DNF. I made it to 30%, the first five chapters, but I don't feel like I can give it a rating.

It's not that I felt it was bad or anything, just not keeping my interest. It was just jumping around too much maybe? I know it needs to introduce all the various characters, but I was getting a little lost. Add to that, all the unique names ... Verald, Ivrild, Ondrel, Valdis, Clodion, Felkoth, Fendon, Nefandyr, Matufinn, Morlen. Then it's a complete fantasy world, so you have to learn that too. And I LOVE fantasy. I loved Anne McAffrey's Pern, and all the uniquely names characters (F'lar and F'nor and Menolly and Brekke) ... so it's not that it was too hard. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood?

There were a couple places I had highlighted already ... little gems for my "Quotes" section, but this story just wasn't pulling me in enough to continue. Not when I have 1000s of other books waiting for me at my fingertips. I think I'm just a little more picky now, not pushing through as much, especially when I'm READING (vs audio, when I'm a little more willing to push through, as at least I'm multitasking, and often feel obligated to finish and review if it's one I've received for free for a review). I got this from Kindle Unlimited, just Kindle Text. I'd say maybe I'll come back and try again, but I think I'd have to start over again ... and I'm just thinking that's not going to happen.
