monsterfemme 's review for:
Wild Seed
by Octavia E. Butler
Read this one in an evening 'cause I couldn't put it down. Octavia Butler is, as always, unparalleled in terms of magic and monstrosity within humanity. There is some thread of work that I find incredibly compelling and disturbing around gender, race, dominance, and submission; the delicacy and extremity with which she builds these things is something from which I never fail to learn, in those inarticulable and highly practical ways of instinct, recognition, deep knowing.
