I was absolutely blown away with this book! I was itching for a pirate book and this was everything I wanted and more! The writing was so immersive and beautiful, I could almost picture myself in the Ever Kingdom. I fell in love with both main characters and their fire for each other was to die for. This is a must read for anyone who loves when the villain gets the girl, but also needs the tension/angst of a great enemies to lovers read.
I can’t begin to express how much I loved Livia as a main character. She is sweet and caring, but hurt someone she cares about and she is happy to get her hands a little dirty. Her decisions and way of thinking was spot on to how I would react in the situations she found herself in. She had such a fire in her and I loved watching it burn! Now Erik?! Oh my god. He is an amazing male lead. Is he a little unhinged? Yes…but the best people are! He believes there is no reason to love someone and it would only bring him pain, but oh how wrong he is. I can’t get enough of the two of them. The banter, angst, and utter obsession for each other made this read one of the top reads of the year for me. It honestly wasn’t only them. I really enjoyed and felt something for our side characters as well. I only wish the next one will have more of Livia’s cousins. I liked their relationship a lot. I would say, Celine is definitely memorable to me. I would love to hear more about her story and I would love to see a love interest in the future!
The Ever King kept me captivated from the very beginning. This read has so much packed into it, but it’s done in a way where the reader isn’t overwhelmed. There is action, adventure, mystery, and steamy romance that’ll have you on the edge of your seat. This has easily became one of my favorite reads of 2023. I never fully recover from this book hangover. Now I wait (very impatiently) for the next book, The Ever Queen!
