This is absolutely one of the best books I’ve read this year. Raizl had me crying tears of pain and tears of happiness— I felt so deeply for her. Loved the Yiddish! Loved the details of a culture that is at once oppressive and loving and home! I was so afraid some of the storylines  wouldn’t be tied up by the end, but everything was just right. Truly a novel, truly a coming of age in the truest sense.
