Their Blood Queen by J.R. Thorn
5.0

POV: You’re trapped in an abusive family-dynamic (minus your beloved, sick mom) and forced into marriage, offered up like cattle. In desperation you pray to the monster in a portrait and … well, talk about dreams coming true! 😏

*
  • Standalone set in a shared world.
  • Crosses over with multiple other series.
  • Written in alternating, first-person POVs.

Wow—Instantly related to and fell in love with Scarlett. Her plight, her attitude, her awful family and predicament … so infuriatingly good. And then the ‘impossible’ happening in that mirror—so addictively fun.

(Being completely addicted to all things Faeverse, I was so excited to see this spin-off world would become a thing and it is everything I’d hoped for and more. I will be re-reading this for the rest of my days, I suspect.)

Overall:
I’ve read and loved all of Thorn’s worlds—that said, this might just be her best (which is really saying something, and it’s so expertly woven around/with some of my other favorite worlds. Strongly recommend.

🩸 5 stars. 🩸

Oh and SO MANY BONUS SCENES! That was fun.

🎧 Audio:
I will never be able to say enough about this cast—it was truly perfect, consisting of eight all-star narrators with beautiful voices, who displayed epic acting capabilities.

My appreciation to the casting director / producer, and to the author for funding all of this. Even the intro, where they all listed their own names and the characters they’d be playing was absolute fire.

Probably, auditorily, the best I’ve ever heard (stated as someone who often binges 30+ books per month). Truly.

🩸 10 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🩸
