Master of the Void by Wend Raven
5.0
Loved this book. As the story begins we get very strong Cradle-like vibes - MC comes from a family with high expectations, is deprived of a magical discipline and is given the Void mark that severely hampers future prospects for any good career.
But from the second chapter forward, the story drastically diverges. The MC is quite likeable and the storyline evolves through many twists and turns as the Orimund's relationship with his brothers, the tribe that shelters him and childhood crush evolves along with his understanding of his own magic. I felt the ending could be refined a bit and felt slightly hasty but the overall storyline and likeable characters more than make up for it.
