Stray City by Chelsey Johnson

For 4 days, STRAY CITY is all I thought about. I started the book with low expectations: one of my past roommates read it for class and she absolutely HATED it. But almost immediately, I fell hard for this story. In Andrea and Ryan's secret tryst, I saw the trope of a secret Sapphic relationship completely reversed: I loved that Andrea felt the need to hide her 'lapse into heterosexuality' from her queer world. Plus, it was neat reading a book set in both Oregon and Minnesota, the two states where I've lived the longest. All in all, STRAY CITY wowed me with an unorthodox tale told by richly-constructed characters. I absolutely loved it, and the fact that it is sorta ~controversial~ only adds to its appeal: I love a book that you can argue about!
