what kind of person falls in love with a serial killer? that’s the dark, twisted question at the heart of this book—and tasha’s answer is hannah, a thirty-something, aimless, possibly depressed woman who takes her loneliness to the extreme. low-key, she even fantasises about her lover being the one to end her life. chilling.

the hook grabbed me immediately: hannah starts writing letters to a man accused of murdering women. that premise alone fascinates me because in real life, i’ve always wondered why people wrote to men like ted bundy, even marrying them behind bars. and how does the system even allow this? the idea that killers (or accused killers) can still inspire romance feels like its own horror story.

hannah’s obsession spirals. she loses her job. she packs up and drives to georgia just to attend william’s trial as his girlfriend. and all the time, she still secretly investigates whether her new boyfriend is innocent or not.

the writing is gripping, the pacing relentless, and the whole thing is as wild as it sounds. honestly, if every romance novel came with this level of danger, deception, and sharp-edged thrills, i’d read the genre a lot more often.
