EXCELLENT historical fiction for boys. Gary Paulsen does a fantastic job of mixing the story with historical side notes that explain the realities of what is going on. This title also provides a different perspective on the Revolutionary War, that of the civilians on the frontier who have no interest in the war either way. Also makes the point of the British fighting a "fire and sword" campaign rather than a "hearts and mind" campaign.
