Summer of '69
by Elin Hilderbrand
hopeful
lighthearted
reflective
medium-paced
I have yet to read an Elin book I didn’t thoroughly enjoy and devour. While most are set on Nantucket, each of the 5 I’ve read are completely different and unique concepts. Love the little side characters throughout each of her books as well. Big fan of the historical fiction element of this specific novel; the Vietnam War, moon landing, racism, Woodstock, gender roles, anti-Semitism, and the Chappaquiddick incident are all beautifully tied together, along with some good old fashioned family dynamics.
