My first time actively seeking out a fantasy novella, so this was a very new experience all around. It wasn't fantastic- a little above "middling"- but it still really piqued my interest. It was so much more queer than I expected, too? We got really cool trans guy rep, an ace main character (also a first! How nice!), and Jack gnc af (and also felt autistic-coded hee hee) and passing mentions of queerness. It was also darker + edgier than I expected which also, no complaints! All around, an alright time.
