- If the concept of being non-binary or otherwise outside of the gender binary had existed decades ago, so much heartache could have been saved. A compelling case for inclusivity and letting people live how they want to live.
- ACAB, full stop.
- Watching the birth of the gay pride movement through the eyes of someone on the outskirts was deeply moving.
- This book was much more intersectional than I had expected and also emphasized the importance of unionizing and collective action, both within the context of gay pride and without. Allies take many different forms and queerness can also take many different forms. Portraying Black, Native, and Jewish people (both queer and otherwise) in a loving and positive light (albeit with some stereotyping) was more than I had expected from a book written in 1993 and it was refreshing.
- I am so glad to be living in these times, even though it's hard and scary. Things have come a long way since Stonewall.
- This was a hard book to read at times. Mind the content warnings.
