It is about a mysterious, melancholy, and gothic romance with an intriguing storyline solving a murder. A very slow-paced read about a girl who cannot die and meets death itself which holds the answers as well as forming an alliance to serve the murder.
Full of intrigue and dark undertones about the setting, vibe, and mystery surrounding the manor and the people who live there. I love the foreshadowing of the little details connecting to the overall plot, and the very interesting connection between Signa and Death, including the supernatural world and its relevance.
I love the historical aspect of Signa being a woman in the 1850s with the hardships of every woman to have proper etiquette, to be shaped into a lady that is prim and proper, and the overall struggle of making sure to have a good life by marrying rich or portraying such expectations to be met with disdain by society if the certain expectations are not met. The beautiful contrast of life and hardships as well as maintaining friends and family.
