5.0

It has hall marks of Toni Morrison's masterful style and pacing and character development. I felt sympathy for all the characters (eventually)as she reveals more about them. Make that almost all. There is one doctor I could not like.

It is an amazing look into living in poverty, realistically showing problems and strengths of the people.

Set in the 50s, race is an overt issue as well.

Frank, back from Korea, has PTSD like symptoms.

It is short, but covers much territory, and if I say more, I'll give too much away.
