An essentially perfect read: a v. sweet romance told with Hall’s characteristic, sure-footed, warm & fuzzy subversion; brilliant vocabulary; and care. Hall somehow manages to take on a host of deep, hard issues (anxiety, the patriarchy, organized religion, abandonment by parents, racism, among others) with a wit that compels his readers to laugh out loud and a charm that makes it a lovely journey with Paris & Tariq, not completely overwhelming. It’s simply impressive. I feel like I’ll be unpacking bits of this book for days and cannot wait for the next Alexis Hall book to hit the shelves.
Graphic: Abandonment
Moderate: Racism
