This debut book of short stories based in Lagos, Nigeria of 'bad' dates and partners felt like a night swapping stories with a bunch of girlfriends. The first one will definitely grab attention and is a good choice of opening the collection. Personally, I wish the stories had more depth. A lot of these young men and women are hustling but there didn't seem to be any deeper sense of pathos or meaning. Some of the men were merely scared and protecting a secret eg their homosexuality or infertility. The wastrels, users and the unfaithful, yes, by all means I liked some of the revenge wish fulfillment stories. As the author gets older and has more life experience, her stories and writing style will mature as well.
