i wish i could’ve enjoyed this book more but i was not having a good time.
my biggest issue was the poor worldbuilding—the surface level plot. it was way more about dante and alessa’s insta-love than saverio’s inevitable “war” which bothers me. this book had the consistency of a lot of showing but not telling. we have the mc who’s blessed (or cursed i guess) by the gods, and then that’s it. the mc whines about her uselessness for 80% of the book and then takes five seconds to fight crollo’s ghiottes 😭
sadly, the secondary characters were definitely just names. they had so little animation that i was making up their personalities myself.
anyways, take a shot every time a secondary character (or let’s be real, just dante) conveniently saves the mc!
the debut was fine but i do hope for more excitement and plot in the sequel.
