I reread „a little life“ because i felt like I didn’t have the mental capacity to fully grasp those 800 pages at the time I read it. And what can I say? Heart wrenching, disturbing, heartbreakingly sad ( I cried several times) and yet beautiful and inspiring in many ways.
Hanya Yanagihara narrated the most beautiful, vulnerable and raw human relationships that I ever read. And I don‘t mean that to sound cheesy/pathetic but the character development is so empathetic and raw and she descrives the protagonists‘ relationships in a truthful, honest and painful way. Other than being about being about the cruelty of human kind, „a little life“ is a story about people who stick with each other through it all, about true friendships that endure or overcome struggles and years of not being in touch.
Especially the connection between Willem and Jude is so raw, so beautiful and there is so much love, friendship, trust and support in this relationship.
