I chose this as my free monthly book as a Prime member. I read it during a spell of insomnia and it held my attention for the whole of the book. It was excellent. The story has a present day thread which is told in every other chapter and Simon's story is told in the other chapters and jumps back a couple of years. Simone is recently diagnosed with MS and struggling, over the chapters we hear about her life and her love and her female friendships. Interspersed with this is the current storyline which sees Simone slap bang in the middle of a School shooting and how she copes with that. It's dramatic, it's atmospheric, it's bittersweet. It's also heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It's a whirlwind read and one that will see you wanting more. Highly recommend.
