Reads like a short story that has been padded for length. The ending is memorable, but the story leading up to it is mawkish, meandering and bloated. Feels like two different stories. It's as if he was writing one story up until the end and then suddenly thought, 'Oh shit I'm Stephen King. I need some horror in this.'
