I picked this up at an amazing discount book store (and Moon Pie general store, shout out to Pigeon Forge, TN!) because it had always intrigued me but I’d never gotten around to reading it. The writing is gorgeous and the story is suspenseful, tight, and compelling. The forward and notes included in the Modern Library Torchbearer’s edition that I read were very helpful and added great context.
