The Cat on My Shoulder: Writers and Their Cats by Lisa Angowski Rogak, Joyce Carol Oates, Edward Gorey, Mary Gaitskill, Richard Scarry

4.0

Published authors are not necessarily the best at writing about cats. A good many of these essays read as laundry lists of cats currently and previously owned with some gushing sentiment thrown in to the mix. Some of the authors though had a little more fun with their essays. My favorite essays of the lot are by: Lloyd Alexander, Edward Gorey, Barbara Mertz, and Sue Grafton.
