Mexican Gothic is a wonderfully scary and atmospheric read. It takes place in a dark and cold colonial house located on top of a mist covered mountain in Mexico. Noemà Taboada comes to his place to check in on her cousin who recently married into the impoverished family who lives there. This family formerly operated a silver mine in the mountains that has since closed but they seem be hiding something more under their appearance of genteel poverty. Noemà is a great protagonist who is intelligent, inquisitive, and strong while still being flawed.
Moderate: Body horror, Incest, and Cannibalism
