Bait and Witch
by Angela M. Sanders
It was a very cozy mystery novel. Most of the book has you meeting and bonding with the characters because everyone has two sides to their coin. I really enjoy how the author never made any issue black-and-white and I felt like each character got that treatment. Also, this is the first character I’ve seen being hunted by a corrupt person in the government. As I said before, love the themes.
The magic system was really well-written. I had fun figuring out how magic worked and reading about the character using magic. I felt like the system was simple and straightforward, but a creative twist was put on what you would usually see.
However, I just don’t enjoy the writing style and some other moments in the book. One character was hinting at being gay because he gardened and was vegan. Also, I did not feel any attachment to the romance between the main character and another character and it was just kinda meh when the two characters had their romantic moments. Honestly the romance between the minor characters was more interesting.
