Leverage in Death by J.D. Robb

i wasn’t invested in the investigation as i’m not so keen on investments and profits and such stuff. the murders weren’t as personal. but i as always loved eve and roarke. they had a disagreement in this book and it was interesting to see them in that situation.
“I was going to, but the goddamn Candy Thief found my stash.”
“Only in your world does candy qualify as actual food.”
“You eat it. It tastes good.”

“That was a good scary Roarke,” she commented on the way to the elevator.
“I’ll add, you did a good scary cop as well.” He took her hand, kissed her fingers. “Teamwork.”

“I believe I was still on your murder board as a suspect when we first banged each other.”
“Technically,” she allowed. “But I didn’t figure you for it. If I’d been wrong, I’d have taken you down, slick. Maybe I’d have banged you one last time first, but I’d’ve taken you down.”
“Darling, that’s so sweet—and oddly arousing.”

“Nearly on time,” he said in that snooty voice, “and together.” His brows arched up. “And with no visible injuries.”
“The day’s young.” Eve pulled off her coat, tossed it over the newel post as the cat padded over to wind through her legs. “You’re not.”

“It was black—but he has a black one, too, I guess. It’s confusing. But it had an R—for Roarke—instead of the spider deal. And you’re swinging over the damn city and climbing up buildings, and there was a big gust of wind. It scared the shit out of me. Don’t do that again.”
“I’ll resist. Though you do have the most fascinating dreams.”

“Roarke studied the ID shot, sipped more coffee. Said, “Hmm.”
“What?” Instantly, she swung around, eyes narrowed and focused. “What kind of hmm was that? That was a, you know, some kind of hmm.”
“Obviously, I’ll need to guard my hmms in the future.”
