I have to start by saying, I loved the Snow Pirates but the Raccoons have come in strong.  I’m already loving this spin-off series. If you read Two for Holding, you’ve met Savannah and Justin through Molly.

Justin was Savannah’s best friend in high school’s boyfriend.  Any friendship they may have had from high school is ruined.   They have had nothing to do with each other since high school and Savannah will stick to the girl code for as long as possible.   Some entertaining run-ins keep putting them in each other’s orbit.  When Justin finds out that Savannah is trying to deal with a personal discovery that has left her questioning who she is, he steps in to be the person she can lean on.  Savannah is hesitant to develop any kind of relationship with him, but he's hard to resist.

Savannah is such a fun character.  She is sassy and witty and I loved her commentary.  I laughed so much.  Justin is slightly more serious but he also made me laugh.   He’s not afraid of getting emotional and does quite a bit in the book.  He gives all the vibes of a “cinnamon roll” without being a push-over.  He's a genuine, empathetic, and thoughtful person.  I loved their chemistry, dialogue, and inner monologues.

Book lovers will rejoice.  You get an avid book reader and an indie author and so many “easter eggs” around the book world.  I loved Justin’s way of addressing their relationship and deferring from the unpopular tropes.

There are heartfelt and emotional moments mixed in with a dose of spice and tons of lighthearted humor creating a refreshing and entertaining book.

I recommend this hockey romance if you love relatable characters who face real issues and authentic feelings.  Justin will make you swoon, Savannah will touch your heart, and together they will not only make you smile but will have you laughing out loud.

This can be read as a standalone.  As for me, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Justin and Savannah’s friends.
