Martial Law Babies by Arnold Arre

celebrated national heroes day, culminated buwan ng wika, and spent my last few days of freedom from uni reading this.

i am currently a sophomore in diliman, certainly not a martial law baby. it's not an exaggeration that MY very emotional self really had a field day with this book. sososo many feelings -- nostalgia, happiness, fear??? dread????? anticipation??????

im in this particular time in my life where the phrases "para sa bayan," and "give back to your country" are a part of my regular life. it's a time when reality and idealism sets in, both taking turns in your head depending on what condition it is in a particular day. the book is about living your life, but it's also about letting the reality of your country set in.

i hope i can go back to this 4, 6, 10 years from now and view how different and similar my view on life is. the times would have changed then, and so would i.

did the torch burn brightly while i was holding it?
