Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb

3.75

Confession: I'm only reading this to get to the Liveship Traders trilogy, which I'm convinced I will love. But that's not to say I didn't expect to enjoy the Farseer trilogy as well. The premise is really interesting, and conceptually it should work. However, in execution it was a bit dull. The stakes aren't very high, and some of the more intriguing events happens off-page and is merely reduced to a throwaway line. I wouldn't have minded an extra 100 pages had it given me a more action-packed adventure.

Robin Hobb has crafted an interesting world though, which I'm eager to delve deeper into. Knowing that her next books are greater in length, and having faith that her writing can only improve, I'm excited to see where the characters go from here.
