While it was a bit slow to start, I ended up really loving the characters in this story. It's really refreshing to read a fantasy from characters well into their 30s/40s.

I also enjoyed the more realistic "medieval" aspects (guilds, codes of chivalry, etc) alongside the fantasy elements (gods, paladins, and mysterious magic).
