Chasing the Boogeyman by Richard Chizmar

5.0

This book was extremely fun to read. It filled my cup of craving a very unique and different chilled read.

Chasing the Boogyman merges True Crime and Fiction to create a book that left me constantly looking over my shoulder. It was terrifyingly realistic with enough room for imagination and intrigue. Chizmar didn't stop at writing a unique story - he included photos and descriptions that made it feel like I was watching an episode of Dateline and thus made the story feel even more real. Reading this one felt very much like I was also experiencing the story. It's written in a way that is real and tangible but also with a heavy dose of nostalgia coming from the author's account. There are touches of the supernatural and urban legends that run wild in a small town. Everything in this book made me excited to keep reading.

I loved it cover to cover and can't recommend it enough if you're looking for a true crime twist on a thriller. This book is unique, fun, shocking, and satisfying.
